I have not thought of Vancouver Island as a place to hike for alpine views, glaciers and snow capped peaks. So when I was invited to in hike Strathcona Provincial Park, I was totally surprised by all that I experienced.
We arrived at the park late and did not start hiking till 9 PM. Our original plan was to just go to the Kwai Lake campsite just 7k, but we ended up hiking under the stars for a total of 10k and arriving at Circlet Lake at midnight. Was a neat experience hiking like this.
The next morning we started our assent of Mount Albert Edward. The signs said it was only 5k, but it ended up being just over 7k with 880m in elevation.
The total trip was 37K with a total of 1500M in elevation gain.
